Black Bird Origin: Capu Mattu's most distinctive line

The Black Bird line is undoubtedly the brand's most distinctive creation. It has existed since the brand's inception in 2015 and undergoes a creative reinterpretation every year.

Unkiz, the designer, speaks of it as a "symbol" and the "Capu Mattu DNA."

The Black Bird visuals echo each other year after year. The common thread is the initial inspiration, which has remained unchanged: "With the eagle, it's the US influence and more specifically American imagery during World War II, but if I had to draw a parallel, it would be with the Hell’s Bell or the Guardian Bell…"

The small bell hung at the back of motorcycles to ward off evil spirits.

Black Bird is mystical.

But not only that.

The Black Bird collection is also symbolic of the creator's foundational aesthetic. The colors - Black, Yellow, White, and its Khaki variation - testify to the inspiration, the spotlight on identity given by Unkiz's original designs: World War II, because "it's a passion of mine," blended with the idea of the American superhero, positive, libertarian propaganda, the idea of resistance, the idea that light always triumphs over darkness... "without forgetting the necessity of not forgetting, which guides my work..."

Always an eco-responsible and ethical brand, Capu Mattu also defines itself as a player in the Neo-Vintage concept. Neo because all the brand's visual creations are original. Vintage because our leitmotif is to offer quality, robust products that age with our customers... that stand the test of time and the deceptive trends of fast fashion.

"American mechanics' uniforms during World War II were black. We started with that idea. The authentic mechanical workshop, the oil cans and used tires piled in a corner, the passion for a job well done, commitment, team spirit... represented by the mascots printed on fuselages, tanks, uniforms, and caps."

If you look closely, you'll find another Black Bird. Also known as the invincible SR-71.

It is the fastest aircraft in the world, created by the American army and legendary for exceeding three times the speed of sound. A unique reconnaissance aircraft, the Black Bird was capable of taking a photo of a golf ball from an altitude of 24km!

The Black Bird collection by Capu Mattu is available on the website and in store in Tours.
